Imam al-Shurunbulali's Nur al-Idah wa Najat al-Arwah, given in English as The Light of Clarification and Salvation of the Souls, covers the subjects of purification, prayer, and fasting in an exhaustive manner, giving their rulings according to the Hanafi school of law.
Written in the 10th century of the Islamic calendar, this text has achieved unanimous acceptance throughout the Muslim world over several hundreds of years and is now usually the first text of fiqh studied by the Hanafi student up until today.
Shaykh Bilal Brown's English translation is clear and easy to understand, and this edition includes ample space for students to make handwritten notes in the margins of the text. This edition also includes an added section covering the rulings of Zakah, written by the translator.
This text is an indispensable resource for any English-speaking student of the Hanafi madhab. The layman and the student alike will benefit from this priceless work, with its thorough discussion of the areas of worship that are essential in the daily life of every Muslim.
